Bald Spot Coverage, Scalp Micro Pigmentation

Bald Spot Coverage with Scalp Micropigmentation

Scalp Micropigmentation treatment is a non-surgical procedure for hair loss and/or thinning hair. It is a highly effective procedure that creates long-lasting, natural-looking results. Whether you are affected by hair loss due to alopecia, chemotherapy, hormonal changes, aging, or just have naturally thin hair, scalp micropigmentation can give you the appearance of thicker hair.

At Adorn Permanent Cosmetics we specialize in realistic improvements. When it comes to your hair and scalp, we recognize that your goals for your scalp and hair line are highly individual. We take the time to understand your expectations and put together a treatment plan to achieve your vision.

How Does Scalp Micropigmentation Work?

Scalp Micropigmentation is a non-invasive treatment that uses detailed micro-needles to deposit pigment into the scalp. Unlike a hair transplant, it works by replicating and blending with your natural hair follicles, creating a full and realistic hair depth and definition. SMP can also conceal scars, such as hair transplant scars, and make thinning hair look thicker.

If you choose our Oakland permanent makeup studio for the procedure, pigment dots will be layered over the course of your treatment sessions to gradually increase the density and darkness to match your hair. By using a combination of micro-fine hair strokes and micro-dots, you can expect a very realistic-looking fill of an area that has sparse hair. Typically, several sessions are needed to achieve the desired blend.

Helping Women Address Thinning Hair and Hair Loss

It is a common misconception that only men suffer from thinning hair. However, 5% of women under 30, and 60% of women over 70 are affected by thinning hair and/or hair loss.

The most common reasons for hair loss or thinning in women include:

  • Alopecia areata, an autoimmune condition

  • Hereditary hair loss, such as androgenetic alopecia

  • Chemotherapy

  • Hypothyroidism

  • Lupus

  • Iron Deficiency Anemia

  • Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome

  • Skin Conditions of the Scalp

Regardless of the reason for hair loss or hair thinning, micropigmentation makes balding areas less noticeable. Women with thinning or receding hair are the best candidates for scalp micropigmentation. This procedure works on all hair types and colors, as well as skin colors.

What Can A Hairline Tattoo Do For Me?

Whatever the cause, pattern or extent of your hair loss, SMP can:

  • Camouflage the symptoms of all types of alopecia

  • Create the appearance of a fuller, thicker head of hair

  • Provide cosmetic correction by hiding burns, birthmarks, or accident-related scars

  • Complement a hair transplant to provide additional density

  • Thicken the appearance of hair

  • Boost your confidence

Can I Get a Scalp Tattoo While Taking Rogaine?

Scalp micropigmentation should not be used in combination with topicals such as RogaineⓇ. If you are taking medication for hair loss such as Propecia, scalp micropigmentation is safe and effective.

When done with artistry and skill, it provides an immediate and natural-looking cosmetic enhancement.

Preparing For Your Treatment

Because micropigmentation involves tattooing, we recommend that you avoid aspirin, fish oil, vitamin E, and ibuprofen in the days leading up to the treatment. These can cause blood thinning, and may interfere with the tattoo pigment. After your treatment, be prepared for some tenderness or soreness. In some cases, patients also experience flaking of the scalp, similar to dandruff, while the tattooed area heals.

Scalp Micropigmentation Aftercare

After your final scalp micropigmentation treatment, be sure to follow these aftercare requirements:

  • Regularly moisturize the treated area after the 4th day of your final treatment

  • Avoid heavy exercise for five days after your final treatment.

  • Avoid swimming, saunas, and steam rooms for 28 days after your final treatment.

  • Keep out of the sun for 28 days after treatment. Use SPF 30–50 when going out in the sun after the initial 28 day post-treatment period.

Tattoo Removal, Lightening & Color correction

Tattoo Lightening with Saline

If you are dissatisfied with a tattoo and you’d like to get rid of it, Adorn Cosmetic offers tattoo lightening with saline. Whether you’ve had poorly executed work, the tattoo design no longer appeals to you, or the tattoo ink is beginning to discolor, you have options for getting rid of it.

How Can I Lighten My Tattoo?

Saline is a form of tattoo lightening that is a minimally invasive method of removing unwanted permanent makeup. The saline solution is implanted using a machine into areas of that require correction. The composition of the mixture breaks up the pigment of the original tattoo and lifts it out of the skin via osmosis. There will be slight bruising and possibly minor bleeding in response to the treatment. When the pigment rises to the surface, the top layer of skin will form a scab. As the removal area heals, it will gradually reveal a lightened tattoo.

How Many Sessions are Needed?

It may take more than one saline session to remove a tattoo. Rarely, when conditions are favorable, will it only take one treatment. There are multiple factors that can influence the amount of time it will take. Generally after the first session with a new client, we will have a better idea of how their skin responds to the treatment and how much more treatment is likely to be needed. Lightening typically occurs over a period of several months.

Factors include:

  • The type of pigment being removed

  • The pigment’s saturation

  • How deep the pigment was implanted

  • How much pigment is being removed

  • Where on the body the tattoo is located

  • How recently the tattoo was done

  • How sensitive the skin is

  • How well the skin heals

  • How well the aftercare instructions are followed

Aftercare for tattoo lightening via saline requires using aloe gel on the affected area. Avoid putting the area under direct sunlight.

Saline vs Laser Tattoo Removal

There is more than one way to get rid of unwanted tattoos. Laser removal uses a concentrated beam of light to break up the pigment under your skin. However, it is most effective when it is used on tattoos of a single, darker color, as each different color must be treated with a different wavelength of light. If your tattoo has more than a few colors, you may want to use saline instead. Also, lasers simply cannot break down white ink. There isn’t a wavelength that will do that, so if your tattoo or permanent makeup contains white, you should choose saline treatment.

Another issue with laser treatment is that your body doesn’t expel the ink: it is broken down and absorbed into the body. There are considerable side effects to consider with laser tattoo removal. Laser therapy can also knock out hair in the targeted areas, so if you are trying to remove permanent makeup in the brow area, you may want to avoid using laser treatment. Hair follicles affected by lasers can take years to recover. Additionally, certain skin types, particularly darker skin tones, are susceptible to burns, hyper- or hypo-pigmentation, and even scarification. Laser treatment is unsuitable for removing permanent eye makeup or tattoos near the eyes. Lastly, most establishments that offer laser treatment will not work on pregnant individuals, as there has not been conclusive evidence that the procedure is not harmful to the fetus.
